Holder weighing second term as attorney general
Obama’s top law enforcement official says he is considering stepping down.
Eric Holder may not remain in his position as attorney general for a second term, the nation’s top prosecutor told a law school audience Thursday, according to CBS News.
“[I have to] really ask myself the question about, do I think there are things that I still want to do?” Holder said at the Baltimore School of Law, CBS reported. “Do I have gas left in the tank? It’s been an interesting and tough four years, so I really just don’t know.”
Holder said he is “in the process” of deciding if he will stay on as a member of President Obama’s Cabinet.
Holder’s reign as attorney general has been marred by controversy as a result of the botched gun-trafficking operation known as Fast and Furious. Congress voted to hold Holder in contempt, but an inspector general investigation absolved him of wrongdoing.
