USPS to Floridians: Stop crashing into our buildings

When a driver in Punta Gorda, Fla., slammed a car into the front of the local post office, it was the last straw for the U.S. Postal Service.

It was the eighth such incident this year in Central Florida alone, according to WWSB, the local ABC affiliate. In response, USPS has issued tips to drivers to prevent future accidents.

They include avoiding distracted driving; proceeding slowly and carefully when pulling in and backing out of parking spaces; visibly checking to see whether your foot is on the gas pedal or the brake pedal; and visibly checking to see if the vehicle is in park, reverse or drive.

The latter two recommendations were included after many of the eight drivers who found their cars inside post offices pointed to those mistakes as the cause of their accidents.
