It shouldn't be surprising to see Congress be basically unresponsive to real issues. When a person makes less than $200K per year, and has to spend $M every 2-6 years to win re-election, how can anyone believe that he will be a free agent? How can anyone believe that those contributions aren't treated both by the contributor and by the law as investments with an expectation of financial return?

There is a notable difference: the current administration is more openly progressive liberal (back in the 1930's members of the CPUSA referred to themselves as progressives also)than any administration before. The Clinton and Carter administration while progressive liberal, could find their moderate side. It doesn't appear that there is a moderate speck in the current administration and it would be naive not to recognize a growing backlash.

I certainly hope Tuesdays elections are a start to something bigger next year. The only way we get our country back is to remove some of the long entrenched incumbents from the House and Senate. I don't care about party just that a message is sent. This massive spending must stop now.

Charlie Cook is so transparent. If the polls were favoring the Dems, we'd get an article telling us how voters approve of the break-the-bank measures that Congress is trying to shove down the throats of the taxpayers. Americans have had enough, and from both sides of the aisle as well. Try living in NY or NJ, Mr. Cook, and see how you like 60% of your income grabbed by one government entity or another. What's worse, there doesn't seem to be any apparent benefit from same. The roads are lousy, the schools are a disaster, and the lines at government offices (manned by the rude and disinterested) are getting longer. Throw 'em all out, I say!

The Dems must be in serious trouble. Charlie Cook and other analysts are falling all over themselves explaining (in advance) why the GOP victories today mean nothing. Really? More likely it means a direct repudiation of what is coming out of Congress and the White House.

One piece of advice for any politician running for anything dont run under the Democratic ticket or the Republican ticket if you want to get elected. It looks like the general population is getting close to having enough with Washington politics. Neither party has done anything in 30 years to help the average American family in fact their decisions have destroyed our way of life for profits/Greed. They have lost their way they promote agendas that only help those that line their pockets and increase profits for the few. Remember WE THE PEOPLE make change not politicians. They need to get back to working for their true bosses American Taxpayer!!! Not corporate UN.
