Rick Brown was a strong leader in the fight against NSPS and for fairness toward DOD workers and all federal workers. He reveled in speaking truth to power and he will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences to his family, staff, colleagues and fellow trade unionists.

One thing we know for sure he didn't die from stress or workload

Rick Brown was a true-blue, trade unionist. I had the distinguished honor to serve with him representing the grass roots employees of DOD at the NSPS 45-day Meet and Confer. He was an honest, hardworking man who never forgot where he came from, and what he owed the rank and file workers he represented. It was good to talk to him last Thursday at the Defense Business Board NSPS Public Hearings in Arlington. We laughed and joked about the "45 days from he**" in Rosslyn and it was an honor and privilege to have known him. He will be truly missed.

To know and work with this Labor giant has been my good fortune and distinct honor. Those of us in the Federa Labor movement will have to work alittle harder, speak up for our Brother's and Sister's in Labor a little louder, and tilt a bit to the right as we will all be off kilter for a while.

All of us in the federal employee labor movement are saddened by the sudden loss of NFFE President Richard Brown.
As we reflect upon his and his union's loss, I hope that - in his honor - someone will write down the history of the National Federation of Federal Employees, the first union of America's federal workers.

We mourn the loss of this great union leader who put NFFE on track for growth and renewed influence on behalf of Government Employees. He fought hard for all of us. Thanks Rick. God Bless!
