Be kind...state someone is confused, don't say anything else, then fire them. Well aren't we all little miss manners now.

As usual ketter spouts off with hyperbole, inuendo, and outright slander. Come on, dan. Please present a fact from a viable source for this accusation. I doubt you can do that though since you are just another unread GOP toad.

lets see he catches 1 of Michelle's cronies with his hand in the till and he gets fired?? I'm waiting for congress to have hearing and end this nonsense

This is an appointed position, appointed by P. Bush. Telecommuting from NY is not acceptable, and demonstrates he is not serious about the work - it also appears to be questionable ethically, and the IG must be above question. The initial lack of info was likely an effort to be kind. There could also be mental health issues.

Minerva your comment was a joke right? OBAMA is worshipped by his people and the media. He is given any break they can give and you are impressed. If thats all it take you need to get out more. The dems and OBAMA are corrupt. This is what happens when chicago politics get to Washington

If Mr. Walpin is so confused and disoriented he should be a perfect fit for Vice President or Speaker of the House.
-
80696
This is a wake up call...IG's will be held accountable to implement front end solutions to mitigate and combat waste, fraud and abuse of tax dollars. Old saying.."you have to fire a chef to get the cooks attention!" All aboard?
-

I think they need to select another set criteria for removing an IG or the Office of the President is hinting that great many more IGs are going to be sent packing. I have observed many confused IGs.

Taking a quote from another's posting and modifying it to fit this situation and our current state of affairs - I can't begin to imagine that our citizenry will be forced to follow people we don't trust! It is time for a voter revolution with an election purge, make them all go away, limit the terms and benefits of all those that follow, and require the President and Vice President to always be from different political parties. That way they can do no harm to others because they won't have time to do anything but infight!

How can an "IG" telecommute? That is ridiculous! If this person can telecommute 100% of his time, then he cannot possibly be doing an effective job. "IG" work is not 100% telecommuting work. Did he authorize it for himself? Sounds very shady to me.

Personally speaking, I want this guy's telework schedule! Heck, I don't like commuting either; can I stay home and never have to show up for work?
Picture it... They'd never know what I'm wearing below the waist in those teleconferences! Yep, I could give briefs in my boxers!! *^)

Donald Trump - You're Fired!
-
80643
Wake up. This guy was asked to stay on so that he could cause trouble for Obama. He's a Repubelican plant whose only reason for existence on this planet is to smear Obama.
More politics as usual from the now-defunct GWB administration.

I continue to be impressed with the Democrats. When was the last time a Republican broke ranks and questioned the appropriateness of a Republican president's actions? Republicans are never willing to investigate other Republicans, but Democrats initiate investigations of Democrats all the time. Hopefully the calls for more information about this firing will result in a resolution of the issue. In any event, it's good to see someone in Congress engaged in checks and balances. When the Republicans held sway, we went so long without that essential feature of our constitutional democracy....

There is big change happening with escalating accountability for IG's with an expectation to solve (waste, fraud and abuse) issues on the front end before they occur not after the fact when the money has been wasted. Sometimes you have to "shoot a chef" to get the cooks in line! More here than meets the eye.

Maybe the IG Integrity Board will have time to do the research. Most of what has been written or spoken about Mr. Walpin's dismissal has come from Mr. Walpin's own, quite vocal objections. I like what Danielle Brian of POGO.org had to say in her June 15th blog (pogoblog.typepad.com) concerning her encounter with Mr. Walpin at a CIGIE meeting, "If the behavior he demonstrated that day is how he generally conducts himself, I can see why there was a growing number of people calling for his removal." Apparently, Mr. Walpin believes that the only possible, logical solution to any problem is the one he proposes. I'm sure that's why US Attorney Lawrence Brown couldn't work with him. It's probably why the CNCS Bipartisan Board (Democratic Chair and Republican Vice-Chair) fully supported the dismissal. That's why the folks in the IG office at CNCS are probably heaving a sigh of relief. Mr. Walpin's vocalizations should probably be dismissed as political posturing, the very thing that he wants to accuse everyone around him of.

Isn't it strange that so many of the folks, who objected to GW firing federal prosecutors, have no objection to Obama firing a Schedule C employee for the same reasons.
-
80623
Amazing! Really amazing. Remember when Bush fired those attorneys and the liberals got all fired up about "serving at the pleasure of the President"? Now you are using that excuse for this?
The Democrats double Standard policy is working in excellent condition in these days of Change and Hope!

If one of the big CEOs from the failing banks was "telecommuting" from home, the public would be outraged. The same should stand for this Walpin. Just because an IG is supposed to be independant does not mean he is self employed. If I'm paying him to run an agency in DC, then he doesn't need to be doing it from NYC. I would have fired him too!
-
80610
This firing was shameful and out of line. Why did this IG not receive the required 30 days' notice before being fired? (The act, which requires this 30 day notice, was passed last year, with Obama as a co-sponsor). Why did he not receive notice that he was being investigated? Why did he never receive a chance to give his side of whatever negative story they were trying to invent?
I saw Mr. Walpin speak yesterday, and he is a completely lucid man. To smear him as being "disoriented and confused" is unacceptable.
Please open your eyes, people. The checks and balances in this administration are disappearing FAST. Right along with our beloved freedoms.

You cannot manage a department as large as the IG has as long as you are based in NYC and the office staff is based in Washington DC. That is enough to let him go.
As long as it cannot be provden that he was let go for political reasons, the termination is justified. All Schedule C employees like this one is serve at the pleasure of the President. That is understood when you take a Schedule C job.

The smokescreen won't work,Obama is dismissing Walpin because he investigated Obama's friend, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson! The deception goes on! What micromanaging? Cannot anybody on Capitol Hill make a decision without the President? Wow, Pied Piper and his followers are leading the country! It would be an unwise decision to have the IG positions under the whim of the President and Congress with the "tit for tat" going on between the Democrats and Republicans and more importantly Congress cannot even get a Budget passed on time each year!! There is already too much turnover during an Administration change. Where is Obama's campaign promises to cut the earmarks (only 8000) out of the budget? Change?
Hooray, for Sen. Claire McCaskill in her observation because Walpin was found guilty without defense, but again nothing this Administration does surprises me and more Un-American behavior will follow.
-
80597
Everyone knows this guy was fired not for cause but because he was doing his job too good. If this is allowed to stand NO career employees are safe from POL hacks. Same on Obama and his cronies.
-
80587
Was the alleged "confused and disoriented behavior" the fact that he found misconduct at a charity of one of the President's political allies and donors?
-
80580
Obama should fire all the OIG's, just like President Reagan did when he took office. The BUSH OIG's have politicized certain government office they oversee.
-
80578
The newly surfaced factual allegations are all very interesting, but even if true, they are not the sort that require a Saturday Night firing.
-
80565
This is another clear case of an attempt by the Obama administration to cover up their misdeeds and misconduct. This is Chicago politics in its worse form. Corruption, coverups, and character assassinations to divert attention from the misconduct of a political crony were rampant in Chicago and now they have come to Washington DC. Are there no honest men and women left in the Democratic Party, or for that matter, in Congress (of either party) who can take on the press and the Obama Administration?
-

While everybody in the private sector can be terminated at will without any cause, why the president of the United States has to explain why he fired a clown? (This is the guy who retracted his resignation after his office workers told him that they loved him so much).
And there was a silly Senator from Missouri who is now telling the president that he has to provide a better reason than "loss of confidence."
I can't begin to imagine that our president will be forced to use someone he does not trust.

"at which Mr. Walpin was confused, disoriented, unable to answer questions and exhibited other behavior that led the Board to question his capacity to serve" __________________________________ We see this from out elected officials every day and they are not fired. Look at the politicos - take Janet N at DHS for example; not only would she not protect her own folks by allowing them to wear masks because it might offend those illegal aliens, but then she dragged Canada into 9/11 for which they had no part in it.
It is just the normal case of double standards in DC and since they did not release this with the initial information they are doing damage control for the Pres and his little string puller Emmanuel.
