"I'm a Republican simply because not everyone can be on welfare." Rick, I've read some of your posts and respect your opinions and clarity even if we don't always agree, but I'd be insulted except for the fact that I know where such prejudice and fear comes from; and the effect recent Party Pachyderm fearmongering has had.
Unfortunately, I'd almost be willing to compare my tax bills with ANY PP apparatchiks not because I'm a "rich" public employee (as Skeeter may think) but because my household gets hit FOUR times on income taxes; three times just on myself. And still I say that we have had PP Hawks slinging plastic like there is no tomorrow. We talk the talk but DO NOT walk the walk! We are SUPPOSEDLY at "war" and yet pay for nothing. Read some history. We had paper, glass, and metal drives to support the previous war efforts; bought US Savings bonds. Today most don't even recycle like we did 5 years ago, but this Blue Dog does!
I know what my fellow citizens are going through today because it takes those four incomes in my household just to pay the bills, save a copper or two for the Grands' education, and save a small pittance so my spouse and I don't have to go on the government teat in our dotage. But the only folks "sacrificing" over the War on Terror are the poor schmucks wearing green or the civilians coerced under NSPS to play in the sand box. All those contractors have sold their safety for exorbitant fees charged to Uncle Sugar's tab.
Please forgive any vehemence you may detect. I would NOT DARE belittle those of the Green Line that defends our safety and sovereignty, but I cannot condone an amoral "war" whether it be in Southeast Asia or the cradle of civilization. And throwing lives away to preserve a lower oil price is absurd at its best; particularly when Shrub's friends are STILL ripping us off with crushing prices and record profits.
Even the PP realizes this and has pulled in their "maverick" to lead the way back from their path of fiefdom growth, fiscal carnage, legislative abuse, and Constitutional desecration. Even y'all think it's time for a change; why not be honest with yourself? Go all the way. Be a Stand-Up American! Vote for change.

Arn't you forgetting one small detail Retired Air Traffic controller, the dems have been in controll of congress since 2006. What have they done to fix the "mess"? I'll tell you, not a thing. So keep dreaming that Obama is going to be the savior of the planet.

Experience at any job does not necessarily mean competence. George W Bush has not been a successful President because he does not have the basic management skills necessary to govern. His history in business was one venture that went bankrupt and sold stocks after the regulatory commission advised him not to sell. In the military his experience was to go AWOL. Every great President surrounded himself with the best minds of their time, and gave these individuals a voice so the decisions made would have different perspectives. This is what sets Obama apart from McCain. McCain is singularly focused and does not have the vision to see the big picture, nor will he surround himself with those that will enable him to see beyond the obvious. Historically the United States has been more prosperous with Democratic leadership. Businesses have prospered,as well as the middle class. Thankfully we will be back on track to being the great nation of these United States of America.

Sad that people can't remember the past and know that everything has a ripple effect from past decisions. The mortgage problems were the Clinton Administration and what policies were signed to change, the Dependency on Foreign Oil is a Democrat thing because they are against drilling on U.S. land, the War was an outcome of the Clinton era NOT doing their job and letting the world walk all over the U.S. attacking all the time. But everyone is so ready for Change, they are going to get it and they better not complain when they see the change that BO will make. There are many ways to change things and everyone is DEAD Wrong to think BO has the experience and knows the right thing to do. We will become a socialist if not a communist country before the next 4 yr. term is over if BO gets in office. America will not be able to hold all the people that are going to come here. But the media did not provide anyone good to vote for on either party anyway. They both stink. I hope the good ole' Americans vote at the last minute and choose "Independent" for once. That's REAL Change. Enough is Enough. Unelect the Elected in every area and stop all Republicans and Democrats. Both candidates are too FAR RIGHT OR LEFT this time.

I am sticking with the turtle in this race. I will go with McCain's resume over the other guy's resume every time and in every way.

Obama will win, no doubt about it. The economy is the main reason. McCain was ahead with the Palin momentum when the economic tidal wave hit. The liberal Dems will only have 2 years to enact all of their socialist programs. By the 2010 mid-terms, the voters will see their taxes increased, security compromised, promises not kept and a host of unintended "changes" that will result in a huge swing back to the Conservatives (Rep & Dem). Absurd you say? Look at the 1994 mid-terms. Until then, have fun with the Obama admin - I am taking my money out of the market and watching from the sidelines with my "I told you so" placard.

If you voted for "W" TWICE, you have nobody to blame for this mess but yourself. Obama is going to win and win big. The Dems will hold the White House for 16 years and that is about how long it will take to fix this mess the Republicans got us in to.
