An example of another weakness in the system relates to a source that was overlooked: the media. Last month a person posted on CNN's IReport that they witnessed Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple being taken to the hospital. The report was placed on CNN's web page and on their TV broadcast without vetting. The stock dropped 10%. Once the report was proven false the stock price returned. Unvetted reports on blogs and traditional media can lead to all sorts of instability in the trading system.
