Another non problem looking for a federal taxpayer solution. Billions have already been squandered on "homeland security" issues by states and local governments that received federal grants buying junk that will never be used or is already out of date. This is the 21 century and we have folks acting as if this is the middle ages and we have to hoard food and water in case of a plague. We did what they are suggesting back in the 60's where every school and government building stockpiled water in drums and hardtack for food. It was a placebo and not an action that would have done any good. We already have too much tax money being wasted and we don't need another black hole to throw some more down

I fully agree with American Taxpayer! Multi-tasking is yet another example of flawed PC thinking. Yes, I know that DHS is here to stay, sadly, but it cannot/should not be involved in natural disasters, that's why we have the dysfunctional FEMA. The Army Corps of Engineers has caused many of the problems that we now have to deal with later, leave DHS out of it, unless the terrorists were responsible, as in 9/11.

Maybe Department of Homeland Security needs to direct it's attention on Security and not extreme weather, pandemic disease, or anything else not related to Security. There are other agencies to handle these type of events. DHS has taken on too large of a role in too many things other than Security.
