The end result is "I don't care if you can do the job correctly or not! What color are you?" LOL! Just another gov policy designed to allow the tail to wag the dog.

The average American taxpayer would be surprised at who is getting these government contracts. Dept of defense, for years, has given preferencial treatment to Sysco Foods - a huge conglomerate, but yet it is billed as a "small business". Why? Because they have independent "franchises", and it is those that are competing and getting the contracts.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I own a small business and compete for Government contracts. I know I am discriminated against because I am a white male. I do not get free set aside and sole source contracts like minority and women owned businesses. I am sick of everyone thinking the Government needs to give them preference. If they cannot compete they don't need to be in business. I will bet whoever accomplished the study was a minority or paid for by a minority who stands to benefit from the study.

Why should the taxpayers have to pay a 5% premium in order to give a business a government contract another reason for this to end

sort of begs the question of whether people with net worth of $750K or $1.75M should get preferential treatment on contracts, though, doesn't it?

If there is discrimination against M/WBEs, then by all means punish the companies or agencies involved--but it makes no sense to fight such discrimination with more discrimination (that is, giving preferences to bidders on the basis of race, ethnicity, or sex).

These programs are a big joke on all tax payers. There is absolutely no justification for it and is only being supported as a way to buy minority and women votes. Most of these companies aren't even truly minority firms or owned by women who actually run or know how to run the company.
