I say put bbq sauce on a pig and it'll taste a whole lot better than lipstick.

As Osama said previously this nothing more than putting lipstick on a pig

Ah - another forum for the SES's to "shine" and network. They did not get there by themselves - I guarantee you that there were scores of GS-15 and below personnel that actually worked those issues and were responsible for the outcomes. I would bet that very few (if any) of those SESs that received that recognition gave their employees any kudos of any kind. A couple of years ago an SES that I used to work for received similar accolades at a forum such as this. It was such a joke back at the office because this individual was a backstabbing, credit-grabbing person that took the credit for everything that was good, and shifted the blame for everything that was bad (even though he had directed the bad things be done). This steller individual had a reputation of doing this for years, but General Officers that he workd for backed him up every time (wonder what he had on THEM)! His reward: a promotion to a higher SES position in another DoD agency.

While I agree that most of the awardees in the article were very senior, did none od the previous commentors note: "The Call to Service Medal was awarded to 25-year-old Alain David Carballeyra..." Anyone think Alain is a 25 year old SES?

All Federal awards are a farce. Too much subjective favoritism for the most part.
Where I work the gravy goes to the 14's and 15's and the office cuties.

You're so right, FedEmployee. The people who should get at least some substantial recognition might be hard-pressed in their own budgets to buy the dress/rent the tux for an event obviously meant only for the people at a levle who can afford it.

Its interesting that the winners of these awards are all SES or above. I think there are people working at all levels of government who are worthy for consideration. These awards hold no meaning for the common federal employee.

There is a bias in this public service awards program or am I the only one seeing it?
-

Hmmm, no mention of the hardworking, dedicated employees in the trenches who make it all happen... typical.

It is very nice that these civil service personnel were honored, however it looks like this is at the SES level. They did not get that award by themselves. I would like to see some people at the GS-15 level and down ger recognition for a change.

I am pleased to see that there is some form of recognition for the top people of Civil Service. The people being recognized are an inspiration to us all. Thank you for a job well done. That being said, I bet that there will not be any attendance from high ranking administration political staff. To acknowledge that there are hard working successful civil service employees would be an anathema to their anti-government credentials.
