Where are the requests for volunteers from federal agencies to assist FEMA? There were plenty of us ready for Katrina and Rita but participation for delayed until after Rita made landfall. The agency personnel who volunteered and served before should be contacted as to availability again. Delays will cause problems for everyone.

This article does not mention whether DLA's Defense Distribution Center (DDC) Deployable Depot Support Team will be engaged in the Gustav effort. This team, established post-Katrina, has a core mission to provide logistics support to facilitate relief for CONUS disasters. The team is staffed and trained to repond quickly and provide support for exactly these types of situations.
