Veteran care is an issue, and anyone who has been to a VA facility knows this. One troublesome factor I noticed about the VA is most of the employees are not veterans and the VA employees actually hold vets in comtempt, like we are bottom feeders. So yea, most veterans will want to jump the VA ship if there is an access card option. Mailing via fedex a card back and forth when one of the parties is very ill is not an answer. There will still be a VA as the VA is two parts one part medical and one part benefits that include life insurance, education benefits, etc. Start VA reform by hiring Vets for jobs at the VA.

Of course McCain is for our Vets. Let's see who should I vote for this Nov., an old war hero, or an anti american racist. Hmmm hard choice.

If a medical card "IS" pushed through by the special interest groups supporting John McCain by the private hospital H.M.Os,this will be a disaster and will end up hurting all veterans. If implemented , which i doubt, the card should be kept at the VA instead of given out to the Veterans like candy. When the VA gives it out it should be a temporary card with a 24 hour expiration. That way the temptation for fraud at the private hospitals which we know will happen, can be controlled. If the Veteran lives a long way from the VA the VA can mail the Veteran the card by certified mail so the Veteran can go to the nearest hospital that takes VA patients. The card should be tightly controlled and only given out in special circumstances,it should also be signed for and returned to VA by return mail once used, at VA expense. The John McCain proposal will open up the system to massive fraud as in medicare.Instead of a card Washington needs to hire more qualified doctors and pay them more so as to give them a incentive to stay with the VA. The VA cannot keep good doctors because they are overworked and underpaid. When i go to the EL Paso Texas VA, the doctors are running around like crazy just trying to keep up and the nurse shortage at EL Paso VA does not help either.

As a disabled veteran, I can tell you that the VA is not your friend. They do everything in their power to discourage you and fight you on compensation that you deserve. It's nice to get more benefits but how about cleaning house in the VA? Start with the doctors. One doctor approached me like this: "My name is Dr (blah) and I have a committment to the federal government - that's the only reason I am here. Now what's YOUR problem?" I never met this guy before in my life and it was all down hill from there.

As a vet, I support this legislation. I would support the legislation regardless of the man proposing it (McCain or Obama). Let's be a little less partisan. We all know that BOTH McCain and Obama are poor candidates, so why pretend that McCain or Obama will usher in some sort of golden era? Vote 'none of the above'!!!!

McLies is at it again. He has consistantly voted against Veterans and military alike. McLies is only pandering once again.
Tell a lie enough and it becomes truth. Play #3492 out of the Republican disinformation campaign.

Why not address graded Health Care Benefits for all people who are US citizens, and do not otherwise quailify?

John McCain is always on the side of Veterans because he is a decorated Veteran himself. There isn't a VA facility in our area, and he has an answer to help our community.
VOTE MCCAIN FOR PRESIDENT!! We don't want a change for higher taxes and social give aways that Obama plans.

This is just an attempt by an old man who is past his prime to lie his way into the presidency. Please, America, do not fall for his lies and deception. He cares NOT for the veterans of this country, past, present or future. If you have any doubt about this, just access his voting record in Congress on Veteran issues and bills and you will see that he has consistently voted AGAINST every bill/provision to assist veterans. Since he started running for the presidency, he hasn't even felt committed to attend Congress and vote on the issues he NOW wants America to believe that he is concerned about. This is just another lie, amoung many, that he expects the American public to be too stupid to see through and it is imperative that we see the truth behind the man. It is time for a change in the direction of this country, and McBush is NOT the man to take us in the necessary direction that we need to go.

"...a lot of work to do in improving service to veterans". So, Mr. McCain, would this improvement of services include lifting the $30k per year income cap when it comes to VA hospitals? As in, vets who make over $30k a year are kicked out of the system, pending financial review? Or is this just a gimmick to try to win over more vets to your side?
Three years ago, I barely had enough "deductions" to qualify for another year of VA visits. I'm not even bothering to go now, as I know I'll be told I make too much money even though $30k+ in a major metropolitan area ain't exactly a comfy living, especially in this modern age of price-jumping for every item one needs.
Get rid of this cap, and I'll be a lot more inclined to believe the intention of taking care of your veterans...or if there still absolutely needs to be a cap, double it to $60k or so. Either way, this issue needs to be addressed when talking about taking care of our vets. Otherwise, it's just another gimmick.

I think anything to provide better care for those who have served our country is worthwhile. It appears that this could be a beneficial option, and could be based on geographic availability of medical care. It may be worthwhile to do a survey to determine how far vets have to travel to get care, or worse end up not getting the care because of the travel distance.
Also more should be done for those requiring psychiatric care, including PTSD. Many homeless vets with mental problems need special care.

It is absolutely critical that this country do a better job of taking care of our men and women who risk their lives in the wars this nation wages. They come home to a broken health care system. I know, I work in it.

McCain is a PANDERING LIAR. He has been on record for the last several years voting AGAINST veteran's and current military. Just look at his recent vote, or lack there of, concerning revising the GI Bill.
McShame should just go home and return to private life.
Vote Yes for Obama on November 4th.
