The whole scenario still begs the question whether they are out to get Bloch or Bloch is out to get them. Let's just wait and see. And as an aside, did you really quote the resignation verbatim: "the people whom we serve"?????

Reading some of the comments it appears that Scott Bloch must still have his staff writing bogus pro-Bloch posts. Yes, that Bloch character is a heck of a guy. He rescues neighbor cats from trees, helps little old ladies across the street, and fights computer viruses by wiping agency computers.

Bush has asked for his resignation 3 separate times but since his term is 5 years he can't be fired. I'm surprised that so many posters see this as the pres's fault its the same job protection that they enjoy, that's why there is "0" accountability

What else can anyone expect from this Administration? Whistleblowers are not popular with Mr. Bush, especially those who still cherish the ideals of this country. Bloch is just another in a long line of people to whom power is a means.....

That office seems to have had a great deal of political pressure and influence from the executive, especially VP Cheney's office. The evidence of John Yoo's "work" on torture and retaining prisoners at Guantanamo that has come out was also very disturbing. Confidence in the Justice Department has gone down along with the standing of the administration.

Let us not forget the FBI. Every whistleblower they have dealt with has had their career destroyed. See the facts on John Roberts, Sibel Edmonds, Robert Wright, Fred Whitehurst, Jane Turner, Coleen Rowley, Gilbert Graham, Bassem Youssef and others. The number of FBI whistleblowers tell the story. Each one of these FBI individuals tried to tell the truth; about malfeasance, corruption, or problems in the FBI. They each were trying to make the FBI better. They each ended up destroyed. After finishing looking at the Office of Special Counsel, let us take a look at Director Mueller's FBI, and the damage he and his senior management have done to those that told the truth.

No good deed goes unpunished. Bloch actually performs the job he was appointed to - a bit too well. No for payback, the GOP is out for his blood. If there is a real case against Bloch, build it correctly and oust him according to the law. If there is no case, let him continue under scrutiny. Follow the law - hmmm - I remember that instruction. We don't hear it that much anymore.
Tom Davis should be careful how hard he pushes this. Some may call it conflict of interest since it was reported that some who have fallen due to Bloch's actions are close personal friends of Davis's and business partners with Davis's family.
Interesting to see how the administration handles this one.
