Return to Article: Lieberman's oversight activities have watchdogs howling

Funny how the Democrats are now complaining about Lieberman, when it was the Democrats who dropped him as their Senatorial candidate in favor of a more leftist politician the last time he was up for reelection. Who can forget how his fellow Connecticut Senator, Chris Dodd, claimed to be Lieberman's friend and supporter, but then dropped him like a hot potato? Only in partisan politics can you support a fellow senator for reelection one week, and then do a 180 degree turn the next week, and support someone else. Lieberman ran anyway as an Independent, and won, with Republican support. I'd say that he owes no loyalty to the party that threw him under the bus!

Wait a minute.....13 American soldiers killed by electrocution? Where was the news coverage of that???

Don't worry, the American people have had enough and will come out of the woodwork to vote as many Republicans out of office as possible. There is now way Obama would even have a chance if it were not for the corruption of the last 8 years by the Bush administration. Waxman will be every busy for years to come getting to the bottom of how we were bamboozled by the Bush adminstration. If you want more of the same then vote for McCain.

Explain to me: How did the Democrats manage to give away the chair to an Independent? Vote them all out, vote against all encumbents...

Joe Lieberman does not play the political game of gotcha like Waxman does. The present Democrat leadership is more interested in investigating republicans than in actually doing the countries business. Oversight is good and needed, but what the Dems are doing right now is pure revenge politics because the Republicans had the nerve to win the Whitehouse for two straight terms.

The DPC doesn't have subpoena authority so its just the Democratic kooks getting together to hear themselves talk, wouldn't expect anything less form these cretins. Wonder if Congress can hold all their meetings in the future on Saturdays and be hosted by Sat Night Live it would be great humor

Lieberman won the last election because of the Republican vote - pure an smiple. For all intent and purposes he's a Republican, regardless of the "Independent" ruse. During the past 8 years he has supported the administration on the significant issues related to the military, especially the war on Iraq and using torture, and their pro-business economic agenda. The only interests he's more beholden to that the administration and corporations is AIPAC and the right-wing Israeli lobby.
The sun is setting on one of, it not, the most secretive and corrupt administrations in U.S. history. Presidential power has been expanded in order to shread the previously existing balance of power and civil liberties. Cronyism resulted in the post-Katrina disaster, the planning and execution of the Iraq War, and so much more. Outright lies were spoon-fed the populace to generate support for an unnecessary and illegal war. And some people are complaining about the administration being investigated? All I can say is - Bring'em on!
I only hope that these criminals can be pursued after they leave office, because the Democrats so far have done a poor job of uncovering their deeds and bringing them to justice.

THIS is why KBR needed and deserved no-bid contracts? They were and are the best at what they do?
Stop with the in-fighting and DO something! Please! People are DYING.

Other way around, G: The Republicans have gone so far to the right that even Barry Goldwater, the Father of the Conservative Movement, couldn't stomach them any more -- and that was in the late 1980s, when they weren't as rabid as they are now. His last involvement in a political campaign was on behalf of a Democrat, Karyn English.
As for Lieberman, the whole reason he's a Senator is because the conservatives who hijacked the GOP from the actual moderate Rockefeller Republicans in the 1970s wanted revenge for Watergate. They did a slow purge of those Republicans who dared put their consciences over Nixon, and Lowell Weicker was at the top of their list. They finally nailed him in 1988, when they backed conservative Democrat Joe Lieberman to take his seat. Movement conservatives like Bill Buckley backed Lieberman to the hilt.

Waxman has more than 40 investigators. What does that tell you. He love "Gotcha" games instead of doing the necessary work for America. His approval rating is around 1%, mostly deaf and blind people. Time for Old Waxman to consider retirement.

It tells us that actual liberals are sick of Democrats who are no different than the thieves on the right. But don't worry, if the "liberal" media lets us we'll run the scum from both parties out on the same rail.

Why would anybody want to ignore the lack of accountability for the last 8 years??? Americans need oversight and investigation to protect our taxpayer dollars.
Iraq is a wasteland (not the military folks); we are NOT getting our money's worth from the contractors.

Joe Lieberman's reputation goes well beyond 2006. The fact that he is not on the Bush bashing band wagon cost him the Democratic nomination for his state. He will not sell himself out for partisanship much to the displeasure of the so called progressives.

2 things; first, after the parties treatment of him during the last election cycle, why should lieberman feel the need to kiss party behind? Second, Perhaps Lieberman knows that most of the investigations will be little more than a waste of Taxpayers time and money. If these are his reasons for not being Harry Waxmans twin, I for one will support Lieberman. What I'm seeing out of DC is lack of any kind of leadership from the Dems. Time for change we can believe in...independent parties to the fore.

Lieberman is neither a moderate nor a conservative Democrat. He's an Independent. He'a also a fool.

Get a few lunatic liberals together, call them watch-dog and the rest of the fringe follows their lead! Be very afraid!

Moderate-to-conservative Democrats used to be a mainstay of the party. Today, they are run out of town on a rail.
What does that tell you about the state of the party?
