In March 2010 I will have 42 years of CSRS Federal service plus 1 1/2 years of sick leave on the books. My retirement estimate shows I have a redeposit of $939 and a deposit of $105 that need to be settled. Can these impact my retirement even though I'm maxed out?

I am in the process of getting my estimated earnings completed in order to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of buying back 20 years of miltary service for retirement. The question I have along with this is, Will I be able to keep my other retired military benefits such as the Tricare military health plan, commisary and exchange privledges, dental care plan and any other benefits I would receive as a retired military member?

RE: Military service. Where can I find information on effects of buying back military time on (1) military retirement; and (2) FERS?

Two weeks ago, the HUD HR office mailed a statement of my service computation dates. The statement did not show that I had paid a redeposit to OPM to restore almost five years of service credit from the 1980s. Fortunately, I kept the OPM statement showing that the funds were repaid. Within a day of contacting HUD HR, the situation was corrected and I now have an updated statement. How good it was that HR contacted me!

Regarding military service deposits: I am in the process of paying down my nearly 12 years of Navy time for FERS purposes. If I go back into military service, is there a way to recover these funds? Thank you!
