And with all due respect to you, Charles, the criminals known as Bush, Cheney, and Rove have made a mockery of the rule of law and those who don't see that must be delusional. There is no shortage of shady shenanigans that the neocon legion of doom couldn't be raked over the coals of justice for then subsequently thrown into irons, if not worse. It comes down to one's belief as to whether the good citizens of this country deserve to know the truth and whether we believe that people, especially those abusing power, should be held accountable for their actions. The spineless, preening cowards in Congress don't really do anything about the crime spree in Washington because they're a big part of it. There are approximately 5 members of Congress that have any integrity left. The House Democrats are a disgrace and their actions and inactions constitutes complicity in the great crimes and misdemeanors of this despicable administration. Sigh...this could be such a great country if %70 of the people weren't dumbed-down by the corporate media and if the elections weren't rigged.

Sounds fine to me! I'm sure Rove will testify as long as it's in private and with no oath in place. I think we should set a precedent in this way. The next time I receive a speeding ticket and am required to appear in court I'll simply state that only if its in private and not under oath. I'm sure the judge will allow me to do that given that the highest ranking officials in our government refuse to testify under oath.

And yet we average Americans are spied upon with impunity and told 'if you have nothing to hide why complain?'. The bottom line is they are all corrupt and all have something to hide and believe they are above the law. The American people will not put up with more abuse from their government.

David, Rob, Beto, Theresa, Betty, Laurie, and "Whatt!!!!": Are you privy to facts or evidence that Mr. Rove lied or committed some crime? I would suspect you have been reading left wing blogs or listening to left leaning propaganda disguised as "news" by CNN, NBC, etc. You seem to be very enthusiastic about sending him to jail, along with President Bush and Vice President Cheney. With all due respect, and I mean this sincerely, please consider your statements carefully before mob mentality takes over. As Americans, we must maintain the rule of law and the basic premise that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. The Democrat Party leadership has been wasting our time and money on these endless political witch hunts for 6 years now. These efforts have not solved our energy problems, have not improved the economy, have not secured our boarders, and have not kept us safe. They, and I include Republicans, need to stop playing these juvenile political games and do what we hired them to do.

Dan: You presume that Democrats are trying to protect Jefferson just like Republicans are trying to protect Karl Rove. That's precisely not the case. I'm a Democrat and I say that Jefferson should be sent to the slammer (I think he will; just a matter of time). By the same token, Rove should be sent to the slammer for all his misdeeds and lies. As you see, I don't have any double-standards. A crooked politician is a crooked politician, regardless of whether he / she is a Democrat or Republican. I realize that to some this is a profound concept, but...

Why such harsh criticism, he's going into the House of Rep who's veracity is always under scrutiny. The house doesn't require its members to take an oath when they make a speech on the floor so why should Rove. He has total immunity and a wise person would never discard it for any reason. We have a guy serving right now that had $100K in his freezer that still hasn't seen the inside of a jail

What is the point of having that snake (Rove) speak to the Committee if he is not going to be under oath so he can be prosecuted when his lies are found out. It seems like a collosal waste of time and effort to conduct an interview with a known liar if you are not going to put some incentive in place to force him to tell the truth. If he continues to refuse to testify cite him for contempt of Congress.

My gosh all the fluster over nothing. They will get what Rove offer over a year ago what a bunch or morons

If Rove will not testify under oath, any other way is unacceptable, then the committee should wait until late 1/2008 when the Obama administration takes over. Then if Rove still refuses, a contempt citation could be issued and the Justice Department could serve it and Rove would have to do some jail time. That is only 7 months away.

Could someone please explain to me why Mr. Rove who did not go through any type of election from the people of America or confirmation process by their Congressional Representatives should be provided such extraordinary consideration for his testimony?

Don't waste taxpayers money if you want to make a fool of the judicial system. Under oath and a record is only way. Is anyone above the law. I thnk NOT!!!!!

What spineless cowards. Why is this low-life criminal Rove given such special privileges. Is it because we might find out about the many crimes committed?
Throw the traitor in jail along with Bush and Cheney and the rest of the gang of thugs.
