Its sad that Bush had to sign an order and that companies haven't been doing it voluntarily right along. There is no room in this country for those who break the laws, every illegal who has a SS number has committed a felony and needs to do jail time before being sent back

Why don't they carry it one step further and notify INS for possible deportation. If they don't have the right to work, then they don't have the right to government benefits and you can bet that many of them, especially with families, are "working the system".

Most of the Government's employees and contractors are high grade, educated, experienced people with specific skills and clearances that are required to do their jobs. These are not the jobs that illegal aliens are taking.
Maybe we should be looking at cost effectiveness of this before we spend huge amounts of money (that's not in the budget) on it.
Besides, since I had a Secret clearance for years as a fed, they had to know that I was a born and bread citizen. Even as a contractor, my clearance carried over for at least a year.
But what really irritates me about all this is that at least parts of my family has been in this country for at least seven generations going back to the Revolutionary War and before and they would be VERY upset at the very thought of verifying citizenship before you could do anything.
