You can highlight the text and copy to Word to print. Not as pretty, but it gives you the information you need.

It's a great list; I would love to use it for my "countdown"; however, the article, for some reason, will not print. HELP! Thank you

I second your recommendation to join NARFE. The monthly magazine is outstanding, including a great question/answer column for retirees.

I recently received a Federal Retirement Benefits Service History/Service Credit Report from the HUD HR office. There is no cover letter indicating whom I should contact about it.
The statement says that I owe $26,545 as a redeposit amount due from withdrawal I made from my CSRS account back in the 1980's. The withdrawal was for service between November 1981 and October 1986.
I re-entered Federal service in 1988 and paid back the withdrawal over time. I made the final payment to OPM in June 2007 (and I have the original statement). No money should be due now.
Apparently, the payment information contained on the OPM statement has not been communicated to the computer that produces the FRB statement. How can the correct information be input so that the FRB statement is correct?

Great article, wish it had been written when I left! But the other part of retirement isn't as easily quantified, the personal/psychological elements that are just as important and individual for each retiree! Start talking to retired friends, think seriously about significant relationships, activities that were shelved due to work. Remember that you don't have to 'fill up' eight hours/day anymore, and that every day is yours now, so enjoy them. If you really feel the need to work part-time, why quit? Think about that. Pay off all large bills, and you may not have to move to another location. It's now your life, enjoy it.

I'm already retired. Wish I had this easy reference list a year ago. Still very useful though. Thanks.

Great Article, great check List. I plan on saving it for later reference. I think a similar article on end of life planning or surviving spouse check list would provide a valuable roadmap for many at a time when they are preoccupied by their loss or by civial service employee's survivung family members--not familiar with the buearacy.

Great list, I took your advice and did what I thought was right. I retired April 3, 2008, and still not interim checks. It took me calling to follow up on the status of my retirement application to only find out it was on some clerks desk at the National Finance Center for 60 days. Packet finally made it to OPM, it has been there since Jun 1, made 2 calls checking on interim checks, said they would process it today Jun 13, we will see. What a sorry way to treat folks.

Great aid.. Problem is all this gets funneled eventually to a CS and there it will sit for weeks or months until they get back from break, leave or stress leave
