The point is , DK, is that even if you had a Phd, you still could not do this very complex job.

Jim, how can I be envious I have a associates degree that's better than the controllrs GED

Once again Dan K. shows his controller envy. Just because one cannot do the job does not mean they have to put down the profession. Without a contract, the skies are unsafe . More veteran controlers are leaving every day.

The controllers were incapable of negotiating a contract so the government had to write 1 for them. Bush needs to hold their feet to the fire. The medicine never seems to take with gang their like a bunch of babies

The FIRST thing that Congress should do is quietly bury the airline's best friend, the FAA!Then, create a substitute that does NOT promote the wasteful and greedy management style of the air carriers. Stricter oversight of all phases of operation, large fines, collective bargaining rights and salary raises for ATC's, no foreign repair stations or parts. Heck, send me an email and I could fix this mess in a couple of hours, as could any rational person. The FAA is an anachronistic dinosaur that should be in a museum, not walking around out in public and harming travelers!

History will condemn this generation of Americans not for the defeats we have suffered at the hand of our enemies but for the victories we have laid at their feet. Global Warming, Cap and Trade and Al Gore are hoaxes.

"President Bush has said that he will veto legislation that requires FAA to reopen negotiations."
Nobody cares what he does. When has there been a bigger lame duck than Bush?

I'm actually opposed to ethanol but the next to last paragraph mentions objections to it as a possible airplane fuel. Is butynol an option? Allegedly it can be made from biomass, like corn or agricultural waste. If it can be put through pipelines it might also be useable as jet fuel.

It is already too late to fix it. It will take a major accident to open the eyes of the same politicians that screwed it up to begin with. The controller workforce is working too many hours and soon fatigue will set in. This is just another part of the Bush legacy.
