CES is going contract, under the A-76 Study. The base personnell ofiice sucks. We cannot find which forms are required to be forwarded to Randolph (or wherever)for retirement. If this was in place it may certainly help us here at Sheppard. Hope you in the future better luck.

OPM budgeted $27 million for the calculator part of this project, and so far they have paid the contractor $21 million. Question:
Since the calculator does not work, what on earth was the $21 million FOR? (And, is there any chance the contractor will return the money?)

This a bad decision many employee need all the data and training that the benefits offers recd. I DON'T THIS WOULD BE COST EFFECTITY. Also this could/ and should elimate benefits offer jobs. Most employees lack detail benifits data to make life time retirement decisions. S hould those who recd training for years.

Automation of retirement in the Fed System is long over due. The gov't employees too many people in the benefit arena and automation will allow them to start thrifting the unnecessary headcount... finally a positive outcome

Though this maybe a computer world, many people cannot work keyboards let alone computers. This is a huge mistake waiting to happen.

Folks, if you believe this, I have a bridge In Brooklyn I'd like to sell you. No matter how much positive spin is put on this project, wishing it won't make it come true. This is the third major attempt at trying to automate retirement programs. Obviously not much was learned from the last two attempts. Let's just keep throwing money down the rat hole. Hewitt will walk away from this project with its corporate pockets full and federal employees will be left with nothing. Remember weapons of mass destruction? Fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again.

This looks really great OPM. It looks like someone finally got it right for a change. Great work. I plan to retire Aug 09. Will this new program be in place to benifit me?

I think is a wonderful tool and I look forward to using it ASAP, since I plan to retire within 6-7 years. I would like to see where I'm at and get ideas about options, as well as what I have to look forward in the way of "bottom lines." With the economy and the price of everything in life...going up, it's startling to know that it's all happening just at the doorstep of my retirement and everyone else's. Planning with the current economy is at best a maze and guesswork, but at least I can put down numbers that are real now and also put down numbers that are a big possibility in the future, based on what's happening now. Keep up the good work. I look forward to the day this system is up and running.

I am already eligible to retire and was waiting on the FERS sick leave bill before Congress. I believe this option would be very helpful to all employees.

This is most innovative and a welcome addition to those of us nearing retirement; I very much appreciate the effort and look forward to using it. Is their a projection as to when an employee in the Small Business Administration might be given access? Thank you.

More damage control! Don't hold your breath folks. Telling you how it's suppose work and how will really work are horses of a different color. If a system that calculates 9 out of 34 retirement applications correctly, which Springer calls a majority, I wouldn't bet that bank on this system. This may give you the generic computation of an annuity, but of you have unpaid government service, refunded government service, were in additional pay status, etc, etc, lookout! You will still have to rely on your HR office to give you straight answers. You can already compute your projected TSP and Social Security sends you a statement every year. Why spend millions on glitz? This only leaves room for more to go wrong. OPM is going to force that square peg in a round hole come hell or high water. Put on your waders folks!

Unfortunately, this is a huge waste of money as the system doesn't work. It has only been able to correctly compute 9 of 36 retirement cases that have been fed into it since February 25, 2008. The $400 million+ that is being spent is just going into the pocket of a former OPM SES'er who went to work for the contractor the day after he retired.

Well, it is about time. I am hopeful they also include sick leave compensable time for CSRS. in addition to payout for annual leave remaining. I hope that this does not do away with any live person support.
