Regardless, the vaccine was safe and could be administered legally to prevent contracting anthax through the skin prior to the injunction and lawsuit. While the DOD was specifically targeting the potential of inhaled anthrax, there clearly was the possibility of skin contact in event of a biological attack. If anything, the DOD erred in publicizing the reason for giving the anthrax vaccination and could have easily required vaccination for potential skin contact in event of a biological attack.

The military has given similar inoculations to its forces during Viet Nam and Desert Shield. These drugs were not approved by the FDA nor did the serviceman necessarily know what they were receiving.
We have similar problems with drugs approved by the FDA such as the Drug Vytorin that is used to prevent the making and absorption of Cholesterol. I was on this medication for 4 months. It lowered my total cholesterol from 300 to 62 in three months. However, I ended up with severe muscular problems with severe pain. I had eratic problems with my blood glucose that varied between symptoms of dibetes, Reactive Hypoglycemia, and Hypoglycemia. Numbness, Neuropathy, memory loss, and other problems followed. I saw 5 doctors who treated me for all the above symptroms until a specialist ordered special blood tests. I had a CPK Blood test with a reading of 2600 (normal is about 160) and Adolase Reading 6 times higher then My glucose tolerance test indicated signs of prediabetes, however my Fasting Blood Sugar varied from day to day between 50 mg/dl and 169 mg/dl. My vision and sense of balance was way off. I was told I had Polymysoytis and possibly Inter-Myositis, but could only be confirmed my a muscle biaopsy from one of my larger muscles like my thigh. Results concluded at Childrens Hospital that my muscles were being destroyed by the Statin Drug in the Vytorin and the other drug was also affecting my kidneys. I also had breathing problems that was casusing sleep athnea and I am today on a Automated CPAP breathing machine when I sleep. I am slowly healing and recovering.
So now why would an intelligent person want to have an untested drug put into there system. We all know how great the military take care of there veterans that have all these syndromes. The everyday doctor does not even know what test to give them.
They better hope I am not on a civil case jury. I think the military and political officials should be personally sued instead of the tax payers.
I consider Bush and Rumsfield War Criminals for what they have done to our soldiers and civilians who work for DOD abroad.
