Hmmm, if I was of a suspicious nature...
Mitt loses the campaign and now the company he helped found in 1984 is selling us down the river. Kind of makes you think, doesn't it?
"Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich., chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee, called it a "stealth assault on America's national security." Perhaps that is one result of letting China finance our "war"? After all, they have to use all those greenbacks someplace.

Bob, Good story. However, growing up (pre 1980s)in Marlborough, it has always been named thus. Also Northborough, Southborough and Westborough. Both forms have always been acceptable, but us locals get lazy and don't want to write those extra 3 letters on the return address of a letter or bill, etc. I have no knowledge of the habits or inhabitants of Middleboro, of whether those three letters are a burden for them. Middleboro is not in the middle of the rest of these very fine suburban towns/citites, or even in the middle of the state.
Is 3Com even in Marlboro(ugh) anymore? Their beautiful (it really is) campus has been on the market for quite some time. Perhaps due to an unexpected downturn in Government sales. One could hope.
That small error aside, I thought one of the main duties of our fine Government is to protect this country. I would oppose any investment from a foreign nation without a thorough review.

We need the stop the outsourcing of ALL government services. Right now the biggest threat to our national security is the Navy Marine Corps Internet (MNCI). This is the worst boondoggle and waste of taxpayer's money ever pushes through congress. Congress need to "wake-up" now before it too late and return control of ALL Navy and Marine computers to the Naval Computer and Telecommutation Command. EDS which operates MNCI could easily be "sold out" to some "foreign" government through the use of dummy companies without anyone knowing about it. Are Congress and the Sectary of the Navy this stupid?

This is another instance of corporations leaning more toward the bottom line than keen intellectual perception in business dealings and now endangering national security. In foreign countries an American cannot purchase a business unless the majority (51%) is controlled by a local national. Unfortunately, in the US that is not the case and slowly but surely we've been selling off large parcels of American companies/land to foreign entities to the exclusion of all else. With respect to the economic system; "economically the country is worse off', since we now import many of the goods we formally produced in this country, impose prices many are incapable of paying, continue the downward trend of unemployment, inflationary spiral and an overwhelming number of indigents. Where does it end?

I can't remember if it was Lenin or Mao who said that "the capitalists will sell us the rope we will hang them with," but this story is a perfect example of the saying. Does anyone in our corporate boardrooms have even the slightest notion of national security? Or do all they care about is making a fast buck? We should not be doing business with Red China, especially in sensitive areas like IT. It's national suicide.
