Is it true that the music played at the DHS anniversary was a dirge?

As an American citizen and taxpayer who also happens to be a veteran of over 20 years of service with the U.S. Customs Service before it's hostile takeover by DHS, I also see nothing to celebrate on this "anniversary". It would be like celebrating the death of a loved one.

"Is SBInet like Skynet?"
Interesting observation, Don.

The "virtual fence" is just a fraud. In 2000 fully 80 percent of the cameras and sensors on the border were broken and had been broken for years. They were not going to be repaired. When a sensor does work a Border Patrolman is supposed to show up and arrest the border violator. That might happen once in 300 alarms. What we need is a barrier that forces people to stop on the Mexican side and then go through a checkpoint. We have the technology to build such a barrier. Bush won't build it because he wants cheap labor. It is all about corruption, not law enforcement. Besides, when the BP arrests somebody there is no place to detain them. So, they are released. The whole border thing is just a charade. It is smoke and mirrors, night and fog. Maybe a Muslim terrorist bomb in a mexican truck will blow Kansas City off the map. Might wake somebody up.

"Celebrating" the 5th Anniversary of the creation of DHS? Not me. I was too busy mourning the passing of the 214 year old U.S. Customs Service, and the drafting of bereaved Customs employees into the twin fiascoes of CBP and ICE.

Low morale, low pay, no union...please tell me again why the employees at DHS are motivated to do a good job. This agency will soon be exposed for what it really is....a waste of taxpayer money. A vote for McCain will get you more of the same.

As soon as there are virtual fences -- and virtual fences only -- around the Capitol and the White House, should we believe they alone can effectively protect our border.

Your "Virtual Fence" is a joke if your people are 50-100 miles away. By the time you get there, half the population of Mexico could have crossed over. A shoot below the waist policy would be much better.

He should have addressed the issue of employee morale instead of the virtual fence because success of the virtual fence depends on some one monitoring activity along it.
