There's another dimension to this that Mr. Nagesh didn't even touch on. That is the vulnerability of private sector energy producer's networks to cyberattacks.
How can DOE ensure private companies can meet the general public's requirements for protecting the electrical power grid when DOE can't even protect their own internal IT systems?
This is just another factor for all of us to consider as we weigh buying an emergency generator for our homes/businesses, even if we don't live in areas prone to severe weather.
In the Third World, private citizens who can afford it protect themselves because they know the government can't/won't. Why do I feel like we're slipping toward the third world?
