This aclu is a pack of degenerate, bleeding heart, dangerously irresponsible pack. And should for the sake of common decency be dismantled. They are completely clueless.

Anon, the reason AIDS is such a scourage is that rather than treating it as it was initially a sexually transmitted. We worried about how it was viewed by the public and the embarassment it caused the afflicted. Rather than searching out sexual parterners like we do with any other STD we coddled those with AIDS and now the disease is rampart. Diseases need to be treated for what they are and the potential afflication they can cause in the general public. So as usual ACLU gets it WRONG

I completely agree with you Brian. But I would include in your containment strategy diseases like flu. After all people infect me with the flu on a yearly basis!! Talk about scary!!! Containing the flu is much more important -- not even one single HIV positive person has ever infected me with HIV. I would also like a containment strategy against other things too like malaria (of course, the problem with malaria is how do you contain whole geographic regions or even continents). Also on my list would be a containment strategy for folks with any sexually transmitted disease (such as herpes, HPV and many others). Imagine what it would be like to finally be free of people with std's! Plus, now that we know HPV can cause cancer, we'd be eliminating most cervical cancers without having to use forcible immunizations. I would much, much rather use containment than forced immunization. Just my two cents.

I love the idea that the rights of one highly contagioius individual to knowingly endanger thousands/millions of innocent citizens are more important than the lives and liberties of those innocent millions. Perhaps if everyone who is diagnosed with these nasty diseases were immediately transported to the nearest ACLU office to consult with them regarding their civil liberties. I wonder how much service those loving lawyers would render knowing they're about to become infected and then take that infection home to share with their families.

The ACLU......always looking out for us! The only problem is that they see EVERYTHING through a lense that shows anything that the Government could possibly do as a violation of someone's civil rights. Yeah, I guess a person who is inflicted with a deadly and contagious disease should be able to roam the streets and infect as many people as possible. That right must be protected!
The ACLU, once again, promoting the opposite of common sense and anything that would lead to chaos in the streets. Do we expect anything else from these nutcases????

If we were a bit more aggressive with HIV maybe we wouldn't have the problem we do now. Historically, the highly contagious have isolated to protect those not infected from getting infected...that doesn't mean we take away civil liberites from the sick but rather we care for the sick in a contained environment until they reach the point where they can be returned safely into the social network

What a great idea! Containment of an epidemic will distract responders from their primary role in making sure the liberties of the infected are not trampled. Continuing its efforts in new venues, perhaps the ACLU can assist FEMA to assure the liberties of looters are not trampled in the next natural disaster.
