I can understand raising the annual Tricare fee. I can even understand raising copayments. I am broiled that healthcare funding would be cut from the budget, especially when there will be much need for increasing numbers returning from Iraq.

You are absolutely correct, Nancy! Someone does INDEED need to check their facts. So why don't you do that little thing? The evidence over the past several years does NOT support your contention!

These cuts in medical come to us from the Republican Party and their 56 Filibusters in the Senate, and from Pres.Bush's need to prove he has a Veto Pen. Having ducked his time in the Service with the help of Daddy Bush, he lacks the heart only a warrior has for the victims of this war. While you watch the candidates of the Right promise to cut spending it would be wise to remember these cuts, and those promises made to fix the VA Scandal left to us by 10 yrs of Republican controlled of Congress.
It has been a disappointment to watch the Neocons tear apart my conservative familys party at a time when they could of done so much. My small gov. ideas are being smothered with plans invade our privacy in ways once thought impossible. In this same issue is a article about DHS planning to outsource every bit of information it has on every citizen of the USA. One can only shutter at the thought of Google ( who helped China jail some people for blogging about freedom), AOL, or even maybe a Blackhawk Sub., having control of my banking, medical, grocery bill, library card, etc. Who was it said that Gov. should stay out of my Wallet and my Bedroom ? I think maybe Barry Goldwater said that. Seems to me with the feild we have running we might be better off staying home.

What are you thinking? This is not a band-aid for the troups. The Congress has provided a "Bridge" fund till the 08 GWOT request can move through the hoops of a supplemental appropriation. The medical community as well as the rest of the Services have recieve funding to help get to the full passage of the request. Medical received 6 months of funding. Someone needs to check their facts. The rest of the funding will come when the Department of Defense receives additional funds.

This is for Sunny. Don't blame congress for cutting the budget for military health care. Congress is a bunch of crooks, but they are our crooks. We decide every two years that we like what they are doing. If the people want things to change they need to elect representatives who will make the change. Most people are happy as long as they get their check from the government. Blame the voters, not congress. We are the problem. Soneone said that insanity was continuing to do the same thing and expecting a different result. We keep electing the same crooks and expect them to be different. We all need to wake up and give our votes to someone who actually represents us, not someone from the party that our parents voted for if they don't represent us.

Figures - this out-of-touch Congress goes after the war-wounded and retired warriors, two groups least able to defend themselves. I seriously believe we're getting close to having to re-figure our "Representative" form of government when the people we elect no longer represent the electorate, only themselves and the wealthy special interests who fund their election campaigns.

Why the band-aide approach to providing health care for our troops, this has been going on for far too long. The same goes for not providing enough funding for the VA to provide the expanded coverage because of veterans needing healthcare. What happen to the promises made to those who served? Why are they being treated like second-class citizens? It seems that Congress provides more funding for illegal aliens than its troops. Way too go Congress.

This needs much wider coverage. The American people will be outraged if they learn that funds for these vital aspects of wounded soldier care have been slashed. This should be headline news on all the evening news channels!

Disgrace is definitely the correct word to describe this! Outrageous also comes to mind. Congress once again proving that they could care less about the troops. The least they could do is make a statement and explain themselves. Cowards!

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!!!
Hasn't that been the rallying cry of the US Government for the past several years? Is this what they mean by supporting the troops? I seem to recall several stories in the news about the shortfalls in care at Walter Reed and other Military Hospitals. After reading this story, I really wonder about the troop support.
I noticed that the story said that medical support for retirees would also suffer, but I fail to see how that could happen. After all, there isn't any support for retirees NOW. The only way I can see that the medical support for retirees could suffer would be if we now have to pay for medical treatment we WOULD have received if we had been treated in a military medical facility (even though we were forced to go to civilian facilities and pay the 20 to 30 percent of the allowable cost plus however much the actual cost has increased since the date used to compute their allowable cost.).
