I find it amusing, sort of, when any publication speaks of accountability in the federal government. One way or another the waste, fraud and mismanagement will continue.
At least I will be able to find out where to get a grant to study butterfly sex. Why should universities have all of the fun?

"Transparent" in name only. In the top 100, for example, Cardinal Health Inc. has 36,475 separate transactions. This is just one company in the top 100 to get money from the federal government. There could be a transaction for "Loose women and to fund my personal retirement plan" and no one would ever see it.
It is a start, but only that.

There are other sources for this information, but it is always good to see what others get. It is a good way to find possible new sources of grants and contracts. Laura may find this helpful in her new position with the university. What we usually find is that once a university gets a grant with a government agency they tend to get more grants from the same agency, building upon prior successes. It is important to keep sending applications to agencies that have not funded your university to develope new revenue streams.
