It's also inhumane to all Americans to open the floodgates at the border, and let millions of foreign citizens into this country without any control or scrutiny! Look at the current situation, and imagine it only getting worse if amnesty disguised as "immigration reform" occurs. If that happens, we should change the signs at the border from "Welcome to the United States" to "Welcome to the Third World", which is what we'll become.

Who cares less the whole immigration deal is designed to exhaust applicants into a never ending spriral of inhumane time waiting, its cruel and inhumane to make an eligible applicant wait 12-30 years for a visa.
Stop the inhumane time frames that leave people in the dark and too old in the end for a life and maybe less people would be left with no other choice but to become illegal aliens.

other than needing to abolish the SSA(and therfore the SSN's), i think that using the SSN to verify workers is a great idea. We, as a people not as a government, need stop employers from hiring people who don't have a legal right to work in this country. We need to stop buying their products or services. We need to write them letters and send them petitions explictly stating our dissatisfaction. We can not count on the "government" to handle everything in our lives. Government does have its role, but we shouldnt expect it to do everything.
What our government does need to be doing is protecting our borders and stopping these people from comming into this country. We seriously need need to protect our borders, and our Government is failing us miserably.
I wonder.....what would they do to our health care system.......scary!

If Fidel Castro dies, will all the Cubans that sought refuge in the US return to Cuba? If not, why not? Their reason for defecting would be gone? If all of Mexico is destroyed due to earthquake, flood, hurricane, fires, etc., and there is a clean slate of leaders, won't the illegals go back? Probably not, the Congress has ordered Social Security and the state welfare agencies to give the illegals anything they want/need and the candidates for president are no better. These illegals can't vote in the upcoming election, but the candidates are pandering for the vote of the LEGAL hispanics. Then when they are elected they can somehow convert the illegals to actual voters...all Democrats. The rest of us wage earners will have to support both Congress and the Illegals for the rest of our/their lives. I use EVerify and it is easy and quick. Every employer should be mandated to use it to get the illegals OUT OF THE US and off my dime. The same applies to prisoners we have to support for years while they appeal, appeal, appeal. Oops, I forget, they want them to become federal employees too. My bad. Congress and the judicial system should be removed and new people that are elected or appointed, work for free like the early days of this country.

I like most of you are fed up with all of this nonsense. All of these " sanctuary" cities and idiots like Spitzer make me nuts. Include in this mix the politicos like Kennedy and Reid and Feinstein who concocted the amnesty bill this year and you have the perfect storm we are in now. Forget not that Kennedy was around for the '86 debacle too.
If you or I ever tried to cross the border without our id now with the new gestapo tactics we are subjected to, our asses would be cooked. But here we have these illegals laughing as they skip accross the dessert to their new found wealth and status knowing full well that the chances of repercussions are almost nil.
To add insult to injury think of the billions of dollars that are sent BACK HOME and taken out of our crumbling economy. A little fact our wonderful congress people fail to mention.
One of the greatest faults in our system, in my opinion, is anchor babies. Living as close to Mexicali as i do and having worked in health care as i have, i have seen first hand how women will wait in the parking lot of a local hospital until their water has broken and then waddle into the hospital to deliver yet another American citizen. The first time i witnessed this i was horrified not so much at the act itself, but at the idea that a women would put herself and unborn in such danger to accomplish this gain.
Needless to say she made my day.
How do we solve this problem ?
By having the backbone our rep's in congress do not.
By having a constant and relentless voice and drumbeat the they hear morning noon and night.
We want it to stop and stop now.
Their nonesense has to stop.
They all come up for re-election sooner or later and its time most of them were put out to pasture anyway.
They will be home for the holiday. Give them a piece of your minds. Don't be afraid to find them, contact them, tell them to get off their collective butts and do something but most off all them all NO AMNESTY.........

Using the social security number to determine someones authorization to work is a legitimate way to go about it. Is it perfect, no, but it is the most effective way at the moment. A police officer can run an NCIC check to see if a person has a criminal arrest warrant outstanding. If the return says they do, the officer will make the arrest. Sometimes, the officer later finds out that the agency posting the warrant won't extradite or the charge was dropped. The officer then releases the arrestee. So, no government system is perfect. Do you see the U.S. stopping officers from making arrests based on NCIC information, no! The Chamber of Commerce represents business seeking cheap labor, the ACLU is looking for a perfect world, and the AFL-CIO wants us to legalize the illegals, so they can recruit more dues paying members. The question is, do we need more people for low paying jobs or are our legal folks, that are at the low end of the economic ladder pushed out of the jobs by illegal aliens. An illegal alien doesn't know spit about U.S. Labor Law, so an employer can work them over 8 hours, at straight pay. The illegal alien doesn't recognize the majority of American holidays, so they are willing to work, without holiday pay etc...
The simple fact is, if I own a small or moderate size business, I can hire illegals and increase my profit margin.

Our government is totally useless. They have absolutely no control over the peoples business. There only agenda is what wealth they can accumulate in their pockets through special interest groups and keeping the elite content and wealthy. Immigration, product safety, welfare to terrorist groups funded with taxpayer dollars....the list goes on and on. Our children, fathers, daughters are used as pawns in a war to protect wealthy assets. This is no longer the government for the people by the people this is not the United State of America it has become CORPORATE AMERICA ELITE.

If we know approximately how many illegals are here, what's the issue? How can we not know where they are? Where did that number come from? I am totally exasperated. At this point, I'm not sure who to believe. What I do believe.....if the government does a background check, and I know they do, then we should not have any illegals working for the government, but we do. Just enforce the law and quit talking about it. I would like to think that my taxes are buying something more than lip service.

Let's just talk plainly here. The only way to handle the "illegal alien" problem is to round them all up, find out how they arrived in the country and take them back to the entry point. If it was through a port then set the whole family adrift in a boat. If it was the southern boarder, give them a glass of water and drop them off in the desert. However the first thing we need to do before any of this can be accomplished is to shoot anyone with a compassionate heart, because these people will always try to get in the way of progress on the issue. I have one other thing to say to the folks who are with me on this and that is this, please don't get too excited and overwhelmed by the tingly warm feeling you are feeling right now because I have something to confess, and that is ....... I jest.

Time to sort out some basic principles here. Illegal immigration(infiltration), as many posters have already observed, is a federal crime, as is helping them, period. The states (read colonies)rights folks forget this, let the Leftists (not Liberals, 'cause they aren't)confuse the public, then try to pass state laws that directly violate existing federal ones, like New York's Gov.(Lefty)Spitzer. The states complain that the feds aren't addressing this issue, which is true, but they cannot pull this "smoke and mirrors" game indefinitely, as Gov. Spitzer found out. Meanwhile, President Shrub and the Republicans want illegal aliens picking crops, just like in the antebellum South, and the Democrats are using flawed "feel good logic" about the poor, hardworking folks who just want to support their families. How about the poor, working class Americans? We already have the Divided States of America, enjoy it while you can.

The reason it is such a mess is the we are expecting the politicians to clean up the mess. A mess created by politicians, special interests, and big business. They conspired to do this way. They could have done it legally, they just chose not to. The politicians knew it was wrong, just like the illegals sneaking into our country knew it is wrong. The "amnesty this year was suppose to be for the illegal immigrants but it really was for the politician, special interests, and big business who conspired to violate our nations laws for the financial gain.

Des Moines, Iowa is in the news today as joining the list of sanctuary cities. Okay, illegals, time to hike up to Iowa from Oklahoma. It is so nice to hear how elected officials choose to ignore laws of the land. Just like the left wing nut job Breyer in California, they want to protect the illegals over the rights of law abiding citizens. Craziness!

"Mandatory employer verification and workplace enforcement..."
This says it all to free our Country of the "Illegal Aliens". As I see it, this "Illegal Immigration" has caused more problems than anyone can imagine. Mexico and other Countries are exporting their poverty, causing a burden on the United States that is not called for. Most Democrats seem to think "AMNESTY" is the answer to solve this problem.
This was done once and look at the problem today. If "AMNESTY" were to be granted again, can you even imagine what would happen in say, 5 years from now. Instead of having 20-30 million "Illegal Aliens", we would have 40 million wanting and demanding amnesty. This has got to stop! I believe it is now time for the States to take action like Oklahoma, and soon Pennsylvania and other States. It's time to take our beautiful Country back and rid it of ALL "ILLEGAL ALIENS". They have no right to be here!

Chertoff needs to stop his whining and engaging the left wingnuts. He needs to roll up his sleeves and get to work. If that means personally going to McAllen, Tx, or San Diego, CA, and unrolling concertina wire, or donning fatigues and raiding chicken plucking factories, that's what he should do. Show some leadership and action, instead of acting like he's on a college debating team. This country is being torn apart by the illegal invasion (don't call them immigrants - that offends my heritage) while he dawdles in semantics. The laws are on the books. Enforce them. Put up a fence. Do something, even if some liberal, left wingnut judge says it's wrong two years from now.
