Even the LA Times calls the Democrats out. "According to Democrats, it's greedy to want to keep your own money, but it's 'justice' to demand someone else's."
Bush needs to stand his ground on these defense bills. He should not have signed that bill on tuesday. Everyone needs to be reducated on the Constitution. I understand not everything thats been painted as wasteful spending actually is, but anything that resembles an entitlement program is not only wasteful but downright unconstitutional.

Yet, less than 24 hours later, he signed a fiscally irresponsible Defense Bill with over 6 billion dollars in unsolicited spending. Darn good hypocrite the President turned out to be.

At least President Bush is trying to cut some spending and trying to spend in areas where the Constitution authorizes the Federal Government to spend. Where in the Consitution does it guarantee welfare? Social programs are not mentioned and, as such, are reserved to the states or the prople. Read the Constitution, particualrly the tenth ammendment. I sure find it funny how one party is all about cutting spending until they are in power and then can't spend enough. Get our wallet out. With the Democrats we will have tax increases for the poor and middle class. They will let the rich off the hook.

Mark the HHS bill did not included VA budget. The Democrats tried to package it as 1 spending bill HHS VA and Military Construction. Republicans made them seperate them out as has always been done and passed as seperate appropiation bills

The President's reasons for vetoing the Labor-HHS bill would be more credible if he made an effort to fund the war in Iraq. He protests the Democrats efforts to pay for their programs, but he doesn't pay for his--he leaves the bill for generations to come.

This is getting ridiculous. The pot calling the kettle black. For one who has no fiscal responsibility by borrowing and spending should not through darts at those who suggest we need to pay as we go. I would suggest President Bush look in the mirror when he labels one as trusting "the judgment of the federal government" over the "judgment of people". He has not listened the American people at all. I certainly hope he was not referring to himself when he using the phrase "judgment of people". Don't veto unless the other party is in power. But, to point the finger at all, we have become a country of religious pedophiles, crime is rampant, the economy is going in the toilet, and all the WH and Congress can do is spend money on wars and pet projects. Its time they work for us and when our country is fixed, then we can help the rest of the world.

Pretty hypocritical on behalf of the President.

Is there any one out there that trusts our Government?

Bush should not go on vacation until he brings our troops in the Middle East home. I hope that Pelosi and Congress do not cave anymore and do not give him his war appropriations until he stops veto-ing the will of the people of this country!

Thats funny DEM pols like Obey saying it's pure politics. of course it is and EVERY bill from this do-nothing congress is Pure Politics. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are not looking out for the taxpayer. They cater to union bosses, trial lawyers, and washington lobbyists. Spend, spend, spend is their mantra.

Mr. President,
You started this War in March 0f 2003. You are not aware of the support this bill which Mr. President was a bipartisan one that would support the same troops you sent that need help recovering from Bomb blast brain injury. The VA where I have volunteered with brain injured vets does not have the support period. I would not want you to leave office as a lame duck war President but right now you are on course.
