As a technical writer in the health care technology field, I can site numerous examples when inaccurate terminology or mis-interpretation of terms has created serious problems within healthcare organizations. In an increasingly global world, the ROW (rest of world) is looking to the United States for leadership in terming new concepts and applications. The coopertive incvestment is small; and the payback is big in this area. For an industry so focused on ROI, I am amazed how little has been done to standardize our terminology.

I don't see any information that could lead to direct participation in such an effort, but using structured means to create strict, reliable definitions, which could be used in legal and legislative efforts as well as in information-systems design has been my forte for years.
The framework for live, online participation is a little frightening to me, suggesting that efforts could collapse under the pressure of disagreement and cognitive dissonance. I guess I should be encouraged by the possibilities of two-week offline work sessions though -- while I think closer monitoring may be a necessity.
