Skelton and friends might want to chat with their buddies like Levin and Dodd to figure out if their play book calls for a strong military or if they want to trust terror states like Iran and Syria. The Clinton administration decimated our human intelligence capability and fooled some into thinking there could be any such thing as a peace dividend. The politicization of our national defense is pathetic.

History repeats itself because the Politians and the voters always forget the past. Our country tends to build-up for conflicts, and downsize during times of peace, it is a vicious cycle. We Americans must make a commitment in maintaining a sustainable military, and stay the course in times of peace. Our country, our people must face the facts, peace is not free nor is it forever.

After watching Wednesday's Senate hearing chaired by former KKK member Byrd its no wonder the Army needs funds. If I was Gates or Pace I would have gotten up and left, the only thing missing was the elephants and tigers in that 3 ring circus. They did have clowns though (Byrd). It was a total disgrace and I'm waiting now for the good Senator to be sentured.

So we have a "hollow Army" again! I seem to recall a lot of talk about that very subject over the past few years, and apparently, our Legislative and Executive Branches thought that didn't mean anything. Well, maybe the Legislative Branch members are getting the message now, but I don't see any signs of the Executive Branch getting it, yet!

I gives me no pleasure to say this, but in six short years, this administration has wreaked havoc on our armed services. During this period, any leader close enough to Cheney or Rumsfeld to make sensible recommendations or judgements is done away with. From that level down, there is too much organizational and personnel damage to list here.
