Rickster...not sure what the correlation is with the $500K income and Republicans. Democrats would never take that approach as it would hurt them as much, if not more, than it would ever hurt the Republicans. Go ahead Democrats...let's see you do it. It will never happen.

Better still a tax 10% tax on every attorney, sport and Hollywood personality. Couple that with a 5% reduction on every government dept including wages to get the budget under control. That way Congress can really say they are going to balance the budget

The Democrats should add a one year surcharge of 10% for all income taxpayers with a gross income over $500,000 to pay for this war and its survivors, wounded, and refugees. Then we will see how anxious the Republicans are to "support the troops." Also, include medicaid expansion to uninsured children in an Iraq war funding. If President Bush wants the money for this rotten war, he should at least be made to accept some good with it.
