What a sad, wasteful, incompetent, corrupt, dysfunctional government we Americans have.

I think the National Lampoon comedy company did a story on lemmings, the little critters that follow a few psychotic individuals over the cliffs at periodic intervals when the resources become strained under the weight of the demand of the population. Similarly, between the poisons sold for huge profits and the battles necessary to maintain the distribution of poison, the population will again be culled to a manageable number with respect to the greed and availability of resources. The trick is to identify the psychosis and the carrier before diving off the cliff.

Well, if we can get Gravel, Kucinich, or Ron Paul in there then the Drug War is over. Think of the savings.
I think Ron's got the best shot of them all. We'll see if he hits his 12mil goal for Dec 31.

I wish we could lay the drug war at the feet of the Republicans, but we can't. Several of out most ardent prohibitionists are Democrats ... Biden, Feinstein, Hale Boggs, Sen Bob Graham, Justice Thurgood Marshall. It took a team effort to make such a colossal mistake. Nothing significant will change in Jan '09.

Yes, Clinton did reduce the size of the armed forces, but that's probably because he didn't intend to invade and occupy large foreign countries.
Bush, on the other hand, decided it would be great to occupy large foreign countries but pretended that it wouldn't require a larger army, so he waited several years before proposing an increase in the size of the army--long after it was obvious that our military wasn't designed for the job he gave it.

JD,the size of the military was reduced by the 1 and only Bill Clinton who loathed the military. It was Bill and lock box Gore who claimed they had reduced the Federal Workforce 99% of which was taken from the military. That's the reason for so much contracted security

Once again, we see the government turning over inheritently governmental functions to big business interests, solely to reap large profits, rather than expand the federal workforce to meet the needed requirements. The administration will later give a briefing about how it has cut the federal budget by reducing the federal workforce, but what they will not admit is the huge funds paid to private industry to do the same job. This administration has succeeded in the creation of a mercenary armed forces--through the boondoggle of reducing the size of the military, and then invading Iraq. There are almost as many armed civiliam security forces in Iraq, as there are American military forces, soon, the duties previously performed by regulated police forces will now be performed by contracted police industries. Can anyone say "POLICE STATE". I continue to count the days until January 20, 2009, and continue to pray that this country will be successful in sending the twig back to Texas where he belongs, and can no longer harm this country.
