Thank you for this explanation.
Being a centralist/independent, I was initially titillated by this "maverick". He appeared to be the sole GOP opponent to many of the things "Dubya" that I was fed up with. Then he began to change and I thought I was looking at Dubya's older worn out brother. The final straw was his statements on civil service reform.
I just never understood how someone of such potential went down hill so fast. Now I know "the rest of the story."
One, two, three... And he's out of there!

Maybe due to his differences, and what he doesn't have, makes him a better candidate. He is not one to be bought or sold like several of the other "unhopefuls".
Money doesn't make a person good, or a good candidate. Standing behind what he/she believes in does. Integrity counts contrary to social norms.
