Return to Article: Army medical units in Iraq struggle with information systems

This article is filled with incorrect and misleading information. It appears there was little to no research done to support any of the statements.
Every deploying unit to Iraq has been offered (and most have received) MC4 training before deployment. Those healthcare providers who did not receive training were typically not available to MC4 for training, because they are professional fillers (or "PROFIS") and joined with their unit just days prior to deployment.
MC4 has deployed highly qualified training and system support personnel such as Mr Loving to ensure full and capable use of the system in Theater. To date, over 1 million Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) have been captured in Theater that would have otherwise been collected on paper or not at all in previous wars.
MC4 is a tremendous win for both the Commanders on the ground in Iraq because they now have real-time access to medical surveillance information, as well to individual soldiers, who can now rest assured knowing their healthcare has been captured electronically.

This article about Soldiers not getting training on AHLTA-T or MC4 is factually inaccurate.
It's virtually impossible to NOT get training on MC4 before deployment. Every unit is scheduled for it. I know because I've been to my share of classes.
The problem I've seen is that commanders and providers skip the training because they think they know the system already or don't want to invest the time and then when they get in theater they panic because they're not as familiar with it as they should be.
I also like how the comments of not having enough training are substantiated by only quoting what's listed in a "briefing" and not attributed to any one person.
This article was written without all of the facts and doesn't even attempt to share both sides of the story.
