Gore used Dilbert to spice up his brief? Did he pay royalties on the intellectual property? It is case certain that he didn't have any of his own.

I think "Parliment of Whores" by P. J. O'Rourke (sp) written in the late 80's early 90's is an appropriate read for 2007. His insight is funny....and so sad that it's the truth, even for today. I've been around for over 30 years. Nothing surprises me anymore. A supervisor with humor....do those exist? If so, could someone point me in the right direction.

MBA or not the President is the leader of the country and should re-establish government as government! Government is not a business regardless of how many times guys like Gore or Bush want to say it is. The big difference is that Gore never was President but Bush was and the problems have grown significantly where the President believe government is a business and should be run as a business. Now we at DoD are trying to catchup with the rest of the government in improvement of financial reporting and it is real joke. the guys in DoD making the rules have no experience or competency in doing what they are trying to do and will not listen to anyone other than their top managers who are as blind as they are. DoD keeps sying we have to have time to implement these things (they only have had since 1990) . They have had 16 years but just ignored everything until recently - maybe they should be held accountable with significant budget cuts but congress would never do that because the billions being wasted on reiventing the DoD is going to be a great savings- if that were true they would have done it decades ago if they were capable. Fact is that it produces no savings and they are not capable! Dilbert was not a joke, it was a reflection of the real situation in government!

That is a joke- right. An MBA President set the government on the right path?
I was a federal employee in the late 1990s and also involved with reinventing the government. We had partnerships-- we had fairly high morale and most importantly the economy was going very, very well.
Today we have the disintergration of the civil service, the army, and if Vermonters have their way-- the United States of America.
So much for having an MBA-- this President is running one of the poorest run administrations that I have ever seen whether federal, state or local.
Lesson learned-- never put loyalty ahead of competency!

I was around during "Government Reinvention" and, you are right, it was a barrel of laughs. I've never gone to so many meetings. Athough most were not very funny, the ultimate result of Al's effort was hilarious because it was so miniscule. Without real goals and ways to track achievements, "Reinvention" fell flat. It took an MBA president to put us on track to real management improvement achievements.
