On the Op-Ed page of the April 16 Washington Post is a very informative column by one of the three senior generals who was approached about this job and declined it. The General had some very illuminating comments about how the role was explained to him, and how he viewed it as a job that could not be accomplished. Good reading.

Everyone in the Bush camp would prefer a czar of everything! That is the way Bush likes to rule - as a czar! Gone are individual rights, search everyone everywhere for any reason, listen in on phone calls, increase spending to your friends and relatives through no bid contracts, hold people in POIW camps for years with little or no known reasons, continue a war based on lies so you can give your friends mort money, CZAR BUSH is already there why do we need more Czars?

Great Idea! Got a couple of suggestions for "Czar". Paul Bremer of Baghdad fame. Or how about the hero of New Orleans, "HeckofajobBrownie"? Maybe Wolfowitz will soon be available. Or that religious nut formally at Justice who's taking the fifth?

This isn't news! Why would anyone expect the Connecticut Weasel in King George's Court to do less than bob its head in approval when the master speaks?

I guess politicians like Lieberman never learn. First, Haliburton is ripping us off and then millions and millions disappear under Bremer's supposed leadership and now Lieberman wants to send someone else to act as the Czar. First, Lieberman needs to decide where he belongs in the political structure of this country and let us know where he stands on the issues of Iraq, etc. This guy is a ping pong ball, waiting for someplace to land. He has no business recommending sending a hunting dog on a search let along sending another "czar" type to Iraq to further screw up the military.
