Wow! I thought how how great this was offered to our wounded vets, but evidently there is a crack in the plan. Fix it and reward our deserving Veterans.

The true story linked below was posted by then NATCA president John Carr on June 23, 2006, is his daily blog, The Main Bang entitled, "Fire The Handicapped."
Here is a link: http://themainbang.typepad.com/blog/2006/06/fire_the_handic.html
Ray McCloud was fired for his disability, yet the FAA now tries to act like they want to hire the handicapped veterans from the latest Gulf War.
This is very pathetic and weak and a very poor excuse for a grasp at positive PR when the agency is getting slapped daily by the DOT inspector general's office, The NTSB and even the latest forrey before the US Congress. Frankly they have very little credibility wit those groups responsible for oversight and apparently even less with the flying public.
Please do not allow the FAA to dishonor America's brave men and women veterans by posting this trash, and allowing them to act like they want to hire them only to fire them when things don't work out for the agency while trying to accommodate their disabilities.
Frankly next time I would prefer to see GovExec.com do a little more homework before printing this story. If I didn't know better I would think you were an arm of Fox News.

"Veterans make ideal employees, and they are deserving of every opportunity we can provide," VA Secretary Jim Nicholson said in a statement. "The skills and disciplines learned in the military, coupled with their dedication and maturity, make them an asset to any employer."
Why did you RIF all of those Flight Service Employees? Some of them were veterans, disabled or not. The FAA is the most disfunctional executive branch agency. All of the top bureaucrats should be fired,
