"And so long as they were at war, their power was preserved, but when they had attained empire they fell, for of the arts of peace they knew nothing, and had never engaged in any employment higher than war." Aristotle, Politics

Lets see, starts with N? right? hmmm. NMCI ... NSPS .... NGEN. Must be good then.
A four year moratorium on acronyms would save billions. Wonder whose brother in law is going to make out on this deal?

Here's a NOVEL Idea...how about taking all the Marines and Sailors we're training in IT and letting them do their jobs? Give them control of their network. Not only has NMCI killed productivity in the Marine Corps, it is killing our internal IT training. Marines are wasting time running around filling out ridiculously complicated trouble tickets and getting them kicked back and have no time and NO NETWORK to train on. I wonder if the IT engineers for NGEN are gonna deploy and work on our networks in combat zones? Probably not! So give our Marines and Sailors their network back so they can Train and LEARN...before it's too late!!!

The key reason that NMCI failed is due to the fact that the developers of the program (including high ranking officers) did not understand or care about the warfighter and the tactical level. I'm hoping the Navy would address this in their NGEN system but my hopes were quickly dashed by this quote, "Given the time constraints for the effort, the center will be identifying user communities at a "fairly high level," the message stated." Which basically means more of the same. The Generals and Admirals in the Pentagon will have their concerns addressed while the people that actually work for a living are ignored. Be prepared for more of the same, lots of money spent, no productivity gains, and disgruntled workers.

Sad to see this, we could pay for several more wars with the money lost from production's lost time using NMCI along with another brainstorm "SPM" and $12M. Whoever is responsible should be fired, to allow this to continue is adding fuel to the fire. Some are getting rich from this and that includes officers and some of our good old boys in Washington offices. Our pay is cut along with higher taxes while those good old boys still get their "big pay raises." Wake up, America!

Great - a system that's even more remote and (likely to be) less tuned to the users.
