Oh God! Please pass out the hankies, I'm about to shed a tear. Now maybe some of these career beltway cronies, sucking off the taxpayers' trough, can now go out in the real world and get a job where they actually can contribute to the economy like a Wal-Mart greeter! Of course I don't want to demonize the greeters' job -- that in itself is more honorable than these unemployed staffers' former jobs.

Someone is voting these lifer politicians back in every time, Taxpayer. I guess it's true -- never underestimate the ignorance of the American voter.

More cronyism from one of the most ethically corrupt administrations in our nation's history. Not to mention morally or financially.
Here's to the future Michael Browns (of FEMA fame and infamy) in our government.

It would make a lot more sense for these folks to spend time "downtown," learning about government programs, before they go to the Hill and dream up legislation noted for its unintended consequences.

Within four days of the midterm losses, the White House Office of "Presidential Personnel sent word to Republican congressional leaders that the executive branch welcomed resumes and applications from the hundreds of soon-to-be-unemployed congressional staffers. Each department and executive agency set up an expedited system of interviews that produced a first wave of job offers to Hill aides by the second week of December. "
These people are not competent - they are Republicans! Doesn't this indicate that there is little, if any, independence between the executive branch and the legislative branch? The staffers are the ones that really control the Congress and now they move into the executive branch. What a wonderful way to keep their hands in the public's pockets and provide the same old weak government we have been forced to accept.
If incompetent elected officials had term limits this would be a smaller impact on the government process. It still would be there but its impact would be smaller. We have to get people out of lifetime work as professional politicians if we ever are going to get back to good government in Washington, D.C.
