Return to Article: Key senator launches bid for U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq

John McCain on Meet the Press made his position on Iraq clear: Either increase the forces and spending on Iraq or get them out. Sounds like the two-armed economist of Harry Truman! Also sounds very much like a presidential candidate.
Another great insight of McCain's was that his previous position of ethanol added to gasoline was not relevant unless the cost of oil was low per barrel. He previously stated that the bio fuel would not reduce consumption of oil, and did not reduce air pollution. However, now that he is a presidential candidate he thinks ethanol is a good idea and it will reduce oil consumption and help prevent air pollution. Sounds like John likes it both ways - what happened to the straight shooting John McCain? He even went to make friends with the Christian right to gain voter support for his presidential run after saying they had gone too far.
John definitely is a straight shooter -- it is just impossible to tell what direction he will be shooting in at any given time! It seems his personal desires far exceed the good of the country.
