Will the new cards get me through airport security any faster??

At the Pentagon we got these cards at least three years ago and were told we had to hurry and get the card or we would not be able to get in the building or operate our computers. That was three years ago and you still cannot get in the building with the card and only in the past month were you required to operate the computer using the card. Of course the entire computer system shut down because of the card software and now we still can access without the card.
We have the CAC and we also need a card to access the building - heaven forbid that the building access people ever learn there is another card that someone else has control of that they might want to use. The CAC, which is the individual high tech ID at the Pentagon, is not necessary for anything but three years ago we had only a week to get it or we would not be able to do anything.

Another card? I thought the CAC card was the "sole means of allowing workers access to government facilities and computer systems." Now along with the myriad of passwords, I will end up with yet another card hanging around my neck. I wonder, do I have a carpal tunnel in my neck?

Sounds like a great idea. But why issue them if the hardware to restrict access to facilities or computer systems isn't installed?
How much is this little tidbit of security going to cost?
Will it protect computer security or will we continue to see "lost data"?
With card readers being installed on computer equipment for access to government systems, what does this do to the telework mandate?
What happens to the poor employee who forgets their card one day in a rush to get to work because the kid forgot their homework and they had to turn around and go back home?
What happens if heaven forbid one is lost? Will that be the automatic trigger for casting blame because something got fouled up?
And what is the projected cost, governmentwide?
