    "Congress needs to get rid of all COLAS and stop inflation!"

    Taxpayer, get a clue. Stopping COLAs will not, and cannot stop inflation. Specifically, the impact of the pittance that is a COLA increase, has negligible effect on the economy; less than the estimated impact the tax cut has on the national economy by increasing consumer spending.

    Please take a macro-economics course before going on a tirade on the only thing that will not keep those on a fixed income on par with a spiraling economy but may alleviate some of the sting from short purse strings.

    In addition to your question, why is the Social Security adjustment different than both CSRS and FERS? The Congress has no understanding of what they are doing or why. Congress needs to get rid of all COLAS and stop inflation! COLAS protect the elected from the votes of those who are really hurt by inflation. Thus, we keep incompetent elected officials in charge of the pocket book of the United States. The Federal Reserve (not elected and over paid) determines how many work or are unemployed. This also removes pressure from elected officials. The entire system has evolved to remove responsibility from the elected officials for the economic impact of their stupid actions. This way they can continue to get elected and find a soft job for life at excessive pay and retirement.
