Veterans deserve better but the Services do not work very well in partnership with the VA, nor vice versa, separate standard for each other and VA. Except for small initiatives attempted at the top of all partners the efforts are not built to sustain themselves - just left as a passing backlog. Well now they becomes so large it grew into an institution of its own. Rather then a short time surge to address the multitude of broken or inefficient business processes feeding it from many different directions. Lost in the backlog.

Blame government for events the government can control! The Unisys facility was a secure facility -- the loss is a problem for Unisys, not the VA. The VA had covered the problems involved. Sometimes things happen that we do not want to waste the funds to attempt to cover. President Bush wasted enough of our money on the widows of Sept. 11 and to rebuild Iraq, as well as to pay for a war that he lied about to begin with.
Stop blaming the government for contractor failures. Government outsourcing is putting the problems in the hands of the contractors more and more and that is not a government problem. If this is so important to you reporters maybe you need to start publishing articles that call for the government to stop outsourcing via contractors!
