Yeah, those gosh darn government "careerists"... if only we had more political appointees running around everything would just run much smoother.

None of this story surprises me. Political appointees and careerists have been fighting for years, even more so now that the political appointees have under White House orders shoved the careerists aside.
What I found most interesting in this article was: "According to the report, the employee took the data home in connection with a personal 'fascination project' that he initiated himself and worked on at home on his own time."
So the VA is going to fire this eagle employee who works on VA self-initiated projects in his spare time and without compensation. Given that the VA has so many of these eagle self-motivated employees that they can just throw one away I'll take him. Such self motivation is a very rare commodity in federal service. I wonder if that person wants to do HR work.
