The sad fact is that nobody will truly know where the money is going and how it will be spent. Granted, there haven't been any tangible signs of improvements made to New Orleans but, then again, look at who's in charge: The same crooks who have been living high off government money for decades so what's changed?
Regarding the rest of the Gulf Coast, I haven't seen nor heard of what is or isn't being done; they just stay under the radar or, better yet, the drive-by media keeps all the good things suppressed so all the public sees are the ongoing maladies which serve to fuel the Democrats' pouting machine. So Trent Lott whined about his beach house; at least he didn't commandeer National Guard trucks and rescue helicopters away from life saving operations. Can't say the same about Jefferson.
Now the dog is out over the FEMA money being abused on outrageous and absurd crap I feel that extreme scrutiny is in order regarding oversight of reconstruction funding.

So you think millions have been spent in New Orleans and there have been no improvements? You are right. But before everyone blames FEMA, you have to indict the entirely bizarre world of federal contracting. The Mississippi Gulf Coast was completely decimated, and the only story I remember is Trent Lott crying about his underinsured bay front property!

With billions of dollars being pumped into New Orleans, is anyone accounting for where this money is being spent? I hear stories of the money going to New Orleans, yet on TV see no improvements. Where is that money going?
