Boy I couldn't figure it out for a few weeks but I think I finally understand. The government won't tell us veterans whose personal data was lost so that we can't sue them. If they don't tell you that you have been damaged you have no basis for a lawsuit. I've called the 1-800 number and even got the "infamous" letter in the mail. Neither told me anything. Even our senators can't find out if their data was lost. The government is a black hole and nothing escapes.
