Hey Mr. Air Traffic Controller, morale is low across the entire FAA board, so stop whining about pay and drop a few levels down with the rest of us bottom feeders, it takes a lot of supporting functions to keep you guys going.

I am an air traffic controller. I am so disappointed that this bill did not pass. The morale of the air traffic controllers is as low as I've ever seen it.

It doesn't surprise me that Rep. John Mica, R-Fla. argued against the bill. But what I don't understand is his reasoning. He said that they have to be responsible to taxpayers and have a sound aviation system. When it comes to the FTI contract that Harris Corporation holds, which is based in Mica's home state of Florida is almost $500 million over budget and behind schedule. The DOT IG says (report AV-2006-047) the $1.7 billion contract could go as high as $3.5 billion, and is a high risk contract. The GOP on the transportation committees have seen these reports, but do nothing about the cost or possible safety issues. Where is their responsibility to taxpayers when it comes to FAA contracts? The DOT IG just announced that the flight service station contract that was suppose to save $2.2 billion over a five-year period has been revised to $1.7 billion, and this is only eight months into the contract. The IG is completing an audit on the contract to find out were the $500 million went. It's okay to let contracts be mismanaged and over budget, but when it comes to labor issues the GOP members of Congress don't care.

Why would anyone in this Congress care about the "flying public." These people fly on corporate jets, no search of their bags, no taking off their shoes, no personal search of their person ... nothing that resembles what the flying public has to put up with.
Expect nothing that favors the public that elected them.
