I'll consider it when the government gives me a separate number (other than my social security number) that can be used for financial data with private companies as well as with the government. Otherwise, I'm against such an animal.

So which is worse? The government keeping all your private information, or perhaps hundreds of private companies keeping all your private information and then sharing it with the government?

"Instead of the government retaining data, and collecting it, we would screen against the data, [using a] civilian name, pinging it against a private database and then having the private data holder who has it anyway say 'yea' or 'nay, 'red flag' or 'green flag.' ... That might be a model for some kind of data-retention issue." Baloney!!!!! Let's see - ChoicePoint, LexisNexis, and numerous other "private" agencies have lost information due to hacking and they want to set up another private agency. Again, baloney!!! And we will let the "private agency" indicate if a problem exists with the person? Who will tell the private agency what the problem is and why??? Perhaps wiretapping??? The American people are sitting around and not responding to the eroding of private rights -- we are idiots for letting them do this to us. Oh, it's not my congressman letting this happen, it's yours -- yeah and we all reelect them. And so it goes!
