This whole NSPS package was brought forward to keep bright productive employees in the intelligence arena. Current pay scales are low and keeping these individuals and bringing in additional star performers was unlikely unless some changes were made and more freedoms within the hiring and retention efforts were made. That was logical, and a valid intent. What is not logical or cost effective, is to waste millions of dollars to re-invent a structure which has been fine tuned over a period of years and that works. This training package on NSPS, which is worthless and provides no real answers, has cost the taxpayer millions. When Congress asked for the bottom line on cost, no federal agency could give a straight honest answer. Enough! Get smart America, this is a runaway train. Who was authorized to let a contract for developing this training? A federal judge ruled the system illegal, and the Defense Department thumbs its nose at U.S. justice system and says "we are going ahead with it." How bizarre is that?

PAS Lackland:
Sorry, already told my legislators how I feel. They didn't listen. About what I expected from Georgia, a pair of Bush-worshipping Republicans in the Senate and the useless Rep. Jim Marshall in the House. They basically said "we don't like it either but we don't have the guts to do anything about it." Sen. Saxby Chambliss wrote back to me later about the pay freeze and didn't even pretend to answer my questions (one of which was "if we're so broke why are we wasting money on NSPS?"), the others didn't even bother with a response. Better luck to the rest of you.

I agree with Dave, go for the permanent injunction!!! The government has been dishonest and deceptive from the get go. They ignore judicial rulings and refuse to bargain. The government would have never agreed to a union meeting unless its lawyers felt they might lose in court. I think there should be a congressional hearing on the real reason for all the deception and slight of hand. Someone needs to find the truth and expose the lies. It's really a simple task. Send an e-mail to all government employees (like the one asking for input about how pay-for-performance should rate people). Then publish the results. I'll stake my civil servant future on the results. Would England put his job on the line to learn the truth???????

The government would not have agreed to anything unless it thought it would lose in court. The government was going head-long into implementation with no hint of letting up. Then the unions threatened legal action, and all of a sudden officials wanna talk? I don't know if the unions are being paid off or if they're gonna strike a deal. Either way it is obvious the government had grave doubts about its legal position when it comes to an unbiased judicial decision. I wish the unions luck, but like we say in QA, "Trust, but verify."

People still don't understand the grave implications NSPS holds, not just for their jobs and their livelihoods.
We've already seen cronyism in its shameless glory with FEMA and its bungling of hurricane relief. Multiply that tragic comedy times all federal agencies, and you've got NSPS in (in)action.
And in a time when federal dollars are so scarce, why does this DHS want to spend $258 billion to implement this plan to fix something that isn't really broken? And why would DoD want to waste money likewise?
All feds should tell our legislators how we feel, and demand that no money be authorized to put this disgraceful plan into effect. I've written legislators from states other than my own, and I've actually gotten replies. In follow-up stories, I've read where every one of those I've written has expressed doubt about NSPS' inefficacy.
Go to house.gov and senate.gov and look up the Government Reform committee to get the members' names. I've written to almost all of them, and I've gotten results.
They work for United States, after all; let's shout it out loud and clear: don't waste any more money on the Working AGAINST America Act!!!

Temporary victory at last. I agree -- let a judge decide. It's union-busting plain and simple. And I don't belong to any union. If you look at the past five years, you can see what this administration wants the government's role to be. Use the government to steal from the common man and enrich people who are already rich. And if you make less than a million dollars a year and voted for this chump, then you're getting what you deserve. And I don't want to hear anything from you Republican wannabe's who think the Democrats are no better, because they are a lot better than this. This administration has three years to tear this country apart, and that's too bad because this administration had the chance to really do something great. Till it is out of office I will drag my feet and be nothing but an obstacle to the administration's policies.

As a union member I say continue with the permanent injunction and file before the Nov. 22 deadline. Let's get this whole ordeal settled by a judge. DoD has been too arrogant in this whole matter.
Something smells fishy and I would think DoD has something diabolical up its sleeve to attack with later if given the chance.
